Ove Joensen, known as Ro-Ove, was a Faroese adventurer from Nólsoy, born in Tórshavn on December 3, 1948. He was a sailor who notably completed several rowing attempts from the Faroe Islands to Denmark, succeeding in 1986. Upon reaching Copenhagen on August 11, he was celebrated by thousands. His boat, the Diana Victoria, is displayed in Nólsoy. Joensen tragically drowned in Skálafjørður in 1987 while sailing. His legacy includes an annual festival in Nólsoy, Ovastevna, which honors him and supports a community swimming pool project he initiated after his journey.
