Ove Gude Meidell (1903–1942) was an assistant at the State Wildlife Investigation. Despite his education being interrupted due to illness, he made significant contributions to the study of wild bee habitats, identifying 103 species, including 81 bees and 22 bumblebees, between 1929 and 1933. His extensive surveys provided critical insights into changing fauna. Meidell dedicated himself to studying the lives of social and solitary bees, and even during a lengthy illness, he continued his research. He was posthumously awarded a gold medal for a thesis on small birds in Suldal.
