Ovide Alakannuark was a Canadian politician who served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut from 1999 to 2004. He was known for his victory in the 1999 Nunavut general election, where he won the Akulliq electoral district by a narrow margin of 25 votes over Steve Mapsalak. Alakannuark chose not to seek re-election in 2004, but made a bid to return to politics in 2009, finishing third. He passed away on October 7, 2019, at the age of 80.
