Philip Edmund Stanley Finney OBE was a distinguished police officer and military intelligence officer born on December 11, 1904, in Hulme, Manchester. He joined the Indian Police Service in 1924 and served in Bengal, notably in the Special Branch. During WWII, he worked in Military Intelligence. Finney was awarded the OBE in 1934 and led the British Indian Police at King George VI's coronation. After retiring in 1947, he spent time in business and later worked in Central Africa. He authored a memoir published posthumously in 2000 and passed away in 1980.
