P. J. Kurien is an Indian politician and educationist born on March 31, 1941. He served as the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha until June 30, 2018. A prominent leader of the Indian National Congress, he was also a Union Minister during the P. V. Narasimha Rao government. Kurien represented the Lok Sabha for four terms from 1980 to 1999 before being elected to the Rajya Sabha in 2005.
