Pierre Leonce Thibaut Brian (1930–2018) was an American chemical engineer renowned for his work in desalination, mass transfer, and liquefied gases. He graduated from Louisiana State University and earned a doctorate at MIT. Brian taught at MIT until 1972, transitioning to a vice president role at Air Products & Chemicals. He was recognized as a member of the National Academy of Engineering in 1975 and later received a foreign fellowship in the Royal Academy of Engineering. Brian passed away in 2018 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.
