Parkash Singh Badal was a prominent Indian politician who served as the Chief Minister of Punjab multiple times from 1970 to 2017. He was also the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly for several terms and held the position of the Union Minister of Agriculture in 1977. A key figure in the Shiromani Akali Dal party, he served as its president from 1995 to 2008. Under his leadership, the party had significant influence over various Sikh religious committees. In 2015, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian honor.
