Partou Zia was a British-Iranian artist and writer, born in Tehran on October 9, 1958. She emigrated to England in 1970 and completed her education at Whitefields School, then pursued Art History at the University of Warwick and the Slade School of Fine Art. Zia earned a Ph.D. from Falmouth College of Arts and the University of Plymouth in 2001. She lived in Cornwall with her husband, painter Richard Cook, until her death from cancer in March 2008. Tate St Ives commemorated her legacy with a tribute exhibition featuring one of her last works.
