Parwati Soepangat was an influential Indonesian Buddhist leader, born on May 1, 1932. She is best known for founding Wanita Buddhis Indonesia (WBI) in 1973, where she served as the first chairman. Her contributions to Buddhism and the empowerment of women in Indonesia have left a significant legacy. Parwati was also known by her honorary title, Maha Upasaka Pandita Metta Pannakusuma Parwati Soepangat Soemarto. She passed away on July 24, 2016.
