He served as the head of the French General Directorate for Internal Security from 2012 to 2017. His career began in the Police in 1977 and included significant roles in the security services. He held the position of Director General of the DGSI and also directed intelligence at the DGSE. Post-retirement, he now leads a consulting firm, teaches at Sciences Po, and serves as a Special Advisor.
