Paul Biya, born on February 13, 1933, is a Cameroonian politician who has been the president of Cameroon since November 6, 1982. He rose quickly as a bureaucrat under President Ahmadou Ahidjo and served as the Secretary-General of the Presidency and later as Prime Minister before assuming the presidency. Under his rule, he has faced allegations of electoral fraud and government repression. He is the world's longest-serving non-monarchical leader and Africa's oldest ruler, maintaining strong ties with France, which has significantly influenced his leadership.
