Paul Wilhelm Rudolf Brekenfelder was a Nazi war criminal and member of the SS who served at the Sachsenhausen concentration camp. A member of the NSDAP from July 1931, he was involved in the supervision of forced laborers and committed acts of violence against prisoners, including participation in the mass extermination of Soviet captives. He was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in East Germany in 1968 and died in prison in 1987. Following German reunification, an attempt to rehabilitate him was rejected by the court in 1998.
