Paul Edward Covington (1934–2020) was a notable American college basketball coach, best known for leading the Jackson State Tigers from 1967 to 1986. A distinguished athlete, Covington played basketball, tennis, and baseball at Jackson State. He started his coaching career at Higgins High School before moving to Coahoma Community College. Throughout his 19 seasons at Jackson State, he transformed the program from NAIA to NCAA Division I, finishing with a record of 338–195, making him the winningest coach in the school's history. After coaching, he served in various administrative roles.
