Paul D. Boyer is an American biochemist and analytical chemist, born on July 31, 1918. He is a professor at the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1997, Boyer was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his discovery of enzymatic mechanisms that produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP). He shared this honor with John Walker and Dan Koshland, who were recognized for their work on the sodium-potassium pump. Boyer's contributions have significantly advanced the understanding of biochemical energy production.
