Paul Lutus is an American software author, scientist, essayist, and amateur sailor born on May 16, 1945, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is known for writing 'Apple Writer,' the first text program for the Apple II, and the free HTML editor Arachnophilia. Lutus previously developed electronic circuits for the NASA Space Shuttle program and a mathematical model used in the Viking Mars Mission. He sailed solo around the world from 1988 to 1991 and wrote 'Confessions of a Long-Distance Sailor.' His essays often explore modern American phenomena.
