He earned a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1962, a Master's degree from Caltech in 1963, and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine in 1972. He has had a varied career, working as a radar engineer and teaching at several colleges, including the University of New Hampshire. Nahin has written several best-selling popular mathematics books, as well as works related to time travel, science fiction, and religion.
