Paul Rinkowski (April 24, 1915 – March 14, 1986) was a bicycle pioneer from Leipzig who developed numerous specialized bicycles, particularly recumbent bicycles, from 1946 to 1985. His key projects included various models of recumbents, a camping bike, and the first four-wheeled bike for children. Rinkowski also innovated in the development of low-drag bicycle tires and hand-built racing tires for East German cycling elites. Despite holding several patents, he couldn't exploit them due to the DDR's planned economy.
