Paul Van Dessel (October 25, 1925 - December 12, 2008) was a pioneer of Belgian Radio and Television. He served as the television director of the NIR from 1953 to 1990, a period during which it evolved into BRT. In addition to directing, he worked as a presenter and producer. He hosted the request program 'Het Soldatenhalfuurtje' on Radio 1 and organized the annual Eurovision Song Contest for Flemish participants starting in 1957, supporting the careers of many artists.
