Paula-Mae Weekes is a Trinidadian politician and judge, born on December 23, 1958, in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. In March 2018, she was appointed as the President of Trinidad and Tobago, succeeding Anthony Carmona after being nominated by Prime Minister Keith Rowley with the agreement of opposition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar. Paula previously served as the Chief Justice of the Turks and Caicos Islands. She was the only candidate during her nomination, and she became the first woman to hold the presidential office in Trinidad and Tobago.
