Paulo Campos Paiva was a Brazilian military officer born on February 12, 1923, in Valença. He served in World War II as part of the Brazilian Expeditionary Force. Paiva held several important military positions, including chief of the Department of Personnel from December 6, 1984, to April 8, 1985, and Commander of the Southern Military Command from April 12, 1985, to August 21, 1986. Additionally, he served as chief of the Armed Forces General Staff under President José Sarney from September 15, 1986, to September 14, 1987.
