Paulo Malhães was a Brazilian Army officer known for his role as a torturer during the Brazilian military dictatorship. He operated a safehouse known as Casa da Morte, where political dissidents were tortured. Despite acknowledging his actions to the Truth Commission in 2012, he remained unapologetic. Malhães died during a home invasion, but his autopsy revealed he died of a heart attack. His activities at the safehouse, where at least 22 suspects died, have been confirmed by memoirs of one of the victims. His involvement in torture has left a controversial legacy.
