Pedro Mir y Tierz, born on April 5, 1953, in Sariñena, is a prominent chemist and folklorist known for his pivotal role in reviving the Gaita de boto in Aragón. He is the nephew of Juan Mir, the last professional gaitero. Together with Martín Blecua, he worked to restore this native instrument. He is also the only cane maker in Aragón, creating double reeds for the clarín of the Gaita de boto, based on designs by Mario Gros. Mir is recognized for his dedication to promoting traditional music.
