Pedro Páez Pérez, born on January 29, 1964, in Quito, Ecuador, is an academic and economist. He is a faculty researcher at the Universidad Central del Ecuador and has served as Superintendent of Market Power Control. From October 2007 to December 2008, he was the Minister Coordinator of Economic Policy. He played a key role as a plenipotentiary representative for Ecuador on international finance from 2009 to 2011. He earned his economist degree from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin.
