Known as the geoeconomic division, it consists of three regions: Amazonia, Centro-Sur, and Nordeste, with regional borders that do not align with state borders. For instance, northern Minas Gerais is part of the Nordeste region. Many geographers and specialists now prefer Geiger's proposal.
