Peeter Ernits is an Estonian zoologist, journalist, and politician born on June 11, 1953, in Tallinn. He graduated from the University of Tartu in genetics in 1976. Ernits served as the director of the Estonian Museum of Natural History from 1980 to 1988 and later became the chief editor of the magazine Luup from 1998 to 2002 and the newspaper Maaleht from 2004 to 2007. He has been a member of the XIII and XIV Riigikogu and, since 2018, a member of the Estonian Conservative People's Party.
