Carol Jane 'Penny' Pence Taylor, born on May 11, 1929, is an American former swimmer who represented the U.S. at the 1948 Summer Olympics in the women's 200-meter breaststroke. She competed for the Lafayette Swim Club and attended Purdue University. In 1951, she was part of the U.S. team at the first Pan American Games, winning a gold medal in the 3×100 meter medley relay and a bronze in the 200-meter breaststroke. After retiring from competition, she worked as a professional swim coach for 35 years and held various positions within USA Swimming.
