Penny Tweedie (1940-2011) was an English photojournalist celebrated for her work documenting Aboriginal peoples in Arnhem Land during the late 1970s. After studying at the Guildford School of Art, she began her career with Queen magazine in 1961 before going freelance. Notable for her ethical stance, she refrained from photographing executions during a conflict in East Bengal. Her interest in Aboriginal cultures led to significant exhibitions of her work. She received the Walkley Award in 1999 and remained active until her tragic death in 2011.
