Per Ovesen, born in 1951, is a former Danish athlete associated with IFK Aalborg. He ranked 21st at the decathlon European Championships in Helsinki in 1971, scoring 6,941 points. This year, he also set a personal record at the Danish Championships, finishing second. Ovesen won the Danish decathlon championship in 1972 and broke the Nordic junior record in 1969/70 with 7,098 points, later improving it to 7,181 points in 1971. His record was previously held by a Finnish athlete for a decade.
