Periyasamy Chandrasekaran was a Sri Lankan politician born on April 16, 1957, in Talawakelle, Ceylon. He founded the Up-Country People's Front (UCPF) and served as its chairman starting in 1994. Chandrasekaran was a member of the Sri Lankan Parliament from 1994 until his death on January 1, 2010. At the time of his death, he held the position of Minister of Social Affairs, being one of the two UCPF ministers in the government. He passed away due to a heart attack.
