Pero Car was a Croatian politician in Yugoslavia, born in Novaki on April 2, 1920, and passed away in Zagreb on November 15, 1985. He served as the President of the Socialist Republic of Croatia from May 10, 1985, until November 20, 1985. A member of the Yugoslav Communist Party since 1939, Car participated in the national liberation movement during World War II. In December 1971, he became the president of the Republican Committee 'SUBNOR' in Croatia and was also the president of the Croatian aviation alliance. He was honored with the Order of National Hero of Yugoslavia.
