Pertti Pekkanen, born on October 17, 1944, is a Finnish conductor known for his work with various orchestras. He graduated from the Sibelius Academy in 1972 and first conducted the Helsinki City Orchestra in 1973. He served as the assistant conductor there, and later, he was the artistic director of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra from 1975 to 1987. Pekkanen has also performed at the Finnish National Opera since 1985 and has recorded with several Finnish orchestras.
