Petar Stoychev is a Bulgarian swimmer and politician, serving as the Minister of Physical Education and Sports in the interim government of Marin Raykov since March 13, 2013. He won the World Cup in marathon swimming for eleven consecutive years from 2001 to 2011 and became the world champion in the 25 km open water event in 2011. He holds the world record for the fastest swim across the English Channel and is the first Bulgarian inducted into the International Swim Hall of Fame. He is also an honorary citizen of Viedma, Argentina.
