Pete Edochie, born on March 7, 1947, is a renowned Nigerian actor considered one of Africa's most talented performers. He gained fame in the 1980s for his role as Okonkwo in the adaptation of Chinua Achebe's bestselling novel, 'Things Fall Apart.' Apart from his prolific acting career, he is also an experienced administrator and broadcaster. Edochie, of Igbo descent, is a devout Catholic. In 2003, he received the honor of Member of the Order of the Niger from President Olusegun Obasanjo for his contributions to the film industry.
