Pete "El Conde" Rodríguez was a Puerto Rican salsa musician and singer, born Pedro Juan Rodríguez Ferrer in Ponce in 1933. He began playing bongos at the age of five and later played his father's guitar by ten. After moving to the Bronx at thirteen, he developed his musical career, working various jobs, and served in the Korean War. He caught the attention of renowned musician Johnny Pacheco while playing congas in a Bronx hotel. His debut album, 'Suavito,' was released in 1963, marking the start of his career in salsa music.
