Peter Ashcroft was a British motorsport director known for his significant contributions to Ford's motorsport endeavors, especially in rally racing. Beginning as a mechanic, he ascended to the role of Ford's Motorsport Director by 1991, where he led the team to many triumphs, including securing the World Rally Championship titles in 1979 and 1981. His work included overseeing the landmark victory of Hannu Mikkola in the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally. Ashcroft retired to South Carolina, where he lived until his death in 2008.
