Sir Peter Brian Baxendell, born on February 28, 1925, in Runcorn, Cheshire, is a British retired oilman with a notable career at Shell from 1946 to 1985. He held prominent positions including chairman of Shell Transport and Trading and the Royal Dutch/Shell Group. Educated at St Francis Xavier's College and the Royal School of Mines, he started as a petroleum engineer, eventually becoming managing director of multiple divisions. He was knighted in 1981 and retired in 1985. Baxendell had four children with his wife, Rosemary, who passed away in 2021.
