Peter John Siddons Corby was a British inventor born on 8 July 1924. After serving as a flight engineer in the RAF during World War II, he continued in various roles within the RAF. In 1951, he joined his father's valet stand business and drew inspiration from an aeronautical engineer for his Corby trouser press, which became popular with hotels. Selling his company in 1977, he later worked as an underwriter in insurance but faced financial losses in the 1990s insurance crisis. He passed away on 5 August 2021.
