Peter Du Cane (1901–1984) was a Royal Navy commander and managing director of Vosper, a leading engineering firm. He was instrumental in designing high-speed boats, notably the Blue Bird K4, which set a world water speed record in 1939. Du Cane also designed torpedo boats used during the D-Day landings. Initially joining the Royal Navy at thirteen, he later flew with the Royal Auxiliary Air Force and eventually became CBE. Du Cane published works on small craft and engineering, contributing significantly to maritime engineering before his death in 1984.
