Peter Duncumb (born 26 January 1931) is a British physicist known for his work in X-ray microscopy and microanalysis. He contributed to the development of the first electron microprobe. After earning his PhD from Clare College, Cambridge, he worked at Cambridge and later at Tube Investments, building instruments that advanced elemental analysis. He has been recognized with several awards, including the Charles Vernon Boys Prize and election as a Fellow of the Royal Society. The Peter Duncumb Award for Excellence in Microanalysis is named in his honor.
