Peter Berners Fellgett was a British physicist known for his work in cybernetics and instrument physics. He contributed significantly to infrared spectroscopy, notably developing the Fellgett advantage for enhancing signal-to-noise ratios through multiplex measurements. Fellgett obtained his PhD from Cambridge University in 1949, exploring infrared sensitivities and stellar radiation. He served as a professor at the University of Reading from 1964 until his retirement in 1987. His research also included acoustics, particularly animal sound perception. He received the R. W. Wood Prize and became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1986.
