Peter Gänßler (1937-2015) was a notable German mathematician known for his work in mathematical stochastics and measure theory. He completed his Abitur in 1956 and studied at Heidelberg University, earning his mathematics diploma in 1962. Gänßler obtained his doctorate in 1966 and habilitated in 1971. He served as a professor at the University of Bochum and later at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He was recognized as a fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics and had numerous international collaborations while investigating empirical processes and nonparametric statistics.
