Peter Aguon Gumataotao, born in 1958, is a retired rear admiral of the United States Navy and the current director of the Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies. He joined the Navy in 1976, attended the Naval Academy Preparatory School, and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1981. Gumataotao commanded Carrier Strike Group Eleven and was promoted to rear admiral (upper half) in 2012 after initially serving as rear admiral (lower half). He also holds an M.A. in strategic studies from the Naval War College, earned in 1994.
