Peter Gurney (1938-2006) was an influential author and advocate for guinea pigs' rights and welfare. He was notably involved with the Cambridge Cavy Trust, founded by Vedra Stanley-Spatcher. From 1990, Gurney regularly visited Great Ormond Street Hospital, where he brought along five of his guinea pigs, earning the affectionate title of 'The Guinea Pig Man' from the children he interacted with.
