Peter Haars was a German-Norwegian graphic designer, illustrator, and author, born on February 18, 1940, in Nuremberg, Germany, and passed away in 2005 in Oslo. He moved to Norway in 1962 and created posters for the Norwegian Theater, as well as around 300 book covers while working as an art director. Haars was instrumental in founding the Norwegian Illustrator Association in 1983 and became a professor in graphic design at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts in 1987. He received the Book Art Prize in 1989.
