Peter Hollingworth is an Australian Anglican priest born on April 10, 1935, in Adelaide. He served as the 23rd Governor-General of Australia from 2001 to 2003. After completing mandatory military service in the 1950s, he decided to become a priest. He studied at the University of Melbourne and became a deacon and later a pastor. Hollingworth was the Archbishop of Brisbane from 1989 to 2001. He faced criticism and resigned from his Governor-General position in May 2003 amid a sexual abuse inquiry involving a school in the diocese where he served.
