Peter James Taylor (born 21 November 1944) is an English geographer known for his contributions to political geography. He served as a Professor at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne from 1970 to 1996 before moving to Loughborough University. Taylor co-founded the journal Political Geography and directed the Globalization and World Cities Research Network. He has authored over 300 publications, with more than 60 in other languages. In September 2010, he became a Professor of Geography at Northumbria University and was elected a Fellow of the British Academy in 2004.
