Peter Koech is a former Kenyan athlete who specialized in the 3000 meters steeplechase. He was born on February 18, 1958, in Arwos, Nandi District. Koech won a silver medal in the 3000 meters steeplechase at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. In 1989, he set a world record for the event with a time of 8:05.39, a record that stood until it was surpassed by Moses Kiptanui in 1992.
