Peter Persyn is a Belgian Flemish politician from the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA) and a member of the Flemish Parliament. Born on December 2, 1962, in Brasschaat, he studied medicine and anthropology at KU Leuven and tropical diseases at the University of Antwerp. Following his studies, he conducted field research in the Congo and later practiced as a general practitioner in Leuven. He became an active member of the N-VA in 2009 and chaired the party in Leuven in 2011. In 2014, he succeeded Ben Andyts in the Flemish Parliament.
