Peter Petro is a Slovak drummer, composer, writer, translator, and university professor born on August 17, 1946, in Bratislava. He studied Spanish and English at Comenius University and later pursued Slavic studies in Canada. He gained fame as a drummer for the Slovak rock group The Beatmen and emigrated to Germany in 1966. After further studies, he earned a Ph.D. in comparative literature and became a professor at the University of British Columbia in 1977. He retired as an emeritus professor in 2017 and has four children and two grandchildren.
