Peter Albert Raftery was a British diplomat who served as High Commissioner to Botswana from 1986 to 1989. He began his career after National Service, joining the Commonwealth Relations Office in 1949. Raftery held various positions in diplomatic missions, including roles in New Delhi, Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur, Nairobi, and Bahrain, as well as First Secretary at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He was also the Head of Chancery in Gaborone and served as Counsellor and Consul General in Amman prior to his appointment in Botswana.
